Anti-Fraud Charter

This charter states what we do to make a listing worthy of your trust, and what we refuse to do. Each rule that follows commits us: it is applied, not merely displayed.

Our promise

Every property presented on Ma Maison à Moi is physically visited by our teams before it is published. We go to the site, we confirm that the property exists and that it matches what is advertised. A listing that we cannot verify is not put online: that is our condition, without exception.

Checking the land title is a task separate from the visit. Verifying that a property exists and verifying who owns it are two different things, and we do not conflate them. Title checks are mandatory for a sale and are conducted separately.

We promise nothing beyond what we have observed. Our value lies in this restraint: what you read with us has been seen by someone, and nothing is added to it to reassure.

What the badge says, and what it does not say

The « verified » badge attests that a team went to the site, confirmed the existence of the property, and took geolocated and time-stamped photographs, sealed with a cryptographic signature so that they can be neither backdated nor retouched without our knowledge.

The badge is not a guarantee of ownership. It does not say that the person offering the property is its rightful owner, nor that the title is in order. That assurance falls under the land title check, conducted separately and mandatory at the time of sale.

We hold to this distinction because a badge that promised too much would mislead more than it protects. We prefer an honest badge, whose exact scope everyone knows, to a stamp that reassures wrongly.

The immediate hiding of a reported listing

As soon as a listing is reported, it is removed from view for the duration of the review. We do not leave online a property over which a doubt hangs, even for the time it takes to look more closely.

This removal is neither a sanction nor a judgment on the advertiser. It is a precaution that protects the next person. The listing returns if the review dispels the doubt; it is permanently removed if the doubt is confirmed.

The review is conducted by a person and not by a machine alone. It is closed within a maximum of seventy-two hours, at the end of which the listing returns online or is permanently removed.

Our fraud sensors

Abnormal price: a price that clearly departs from what is customary in the same neighborhood triggers a check. A price that is too low is as suspect as a price that is too high.

Photo already seen elsewhere: we compare a listing's photos with those we already know. An image reused from another listing, from an old file, or found online is detected and checked.

Negative visit feedback: when a person who has visited tells us that the property does not match what was advertised, that counts and triggers a re-examination.

Doubtful mandate: a sale or rental mandate that is inconsistent, incomplete, or unsupported by anything leads us to suspend the listing until it is clarified.

These sensors alert; they do not condemn on their own. They draw our attention; it is then a person who reviews and decides.

The « did you visit this property? » loop

After each visit, we ask a simple question of the person who made the trip: did you see the property, and did it match the listing?

This answer feeds our sensors and protects the next visitor. A property that disappoints visit after visit cannot remain presented as if it were beyond reproach.

It is the field that corrects the listing, never the other way around. We give more weight to what a person has observed on site than to what a text asserts.

The reciprocal masking of numbers

The advertiser's number and that of the interested person remain hidden from each other until the visit is confirmed. The masking is reciprocal: neither one has the other's contact details as long as the meeting has not taken place.

No one can thus build up a directory of numbers by browsing the listings, nor solicit people outside the context of a specific property.

Contact opens when the visit is real, not before. It is a protection against harassment and against the collection of numbers.

What we refuse

Phantom properties: no confirmed existence, no listing. A dwelling that we cannot go and see is not published.

False mandates: a person who does not have the right to offer a property will not offer it with us. A mandate that does not hold up is set aside.

Rigged prices: inflated prices, deceptive bait prices meant to attract and then redirect toward something else. We also refuse borrowed photos, false addresses, and duplicate listings.

Refusing these listings costs us publications, and therefore revenue. We accept that: we prefer fewer listings and more truth.

Never any resale of your number

Your number is used to log you into your account and to reach you about a property. Nothing else. We do not sell it, we do not rent it out, we do not transfer it.

We sell neither your contact details nor your data. No selling of contacts, no third-party advertising, no advertising tracking. Our model rests on verification fees and on a commission charged only when the property is rented or sold, never on the resale of what you entrust to us.

To prevent serial reports without keeping a usable address, we record only a fingerprint of the IP address, salted and non-reversible: it lets us recognize an abuse without ever tracing back to a person.

How to report a listing, and what happens next

On each listing, a « Report » button lets you alert us in a few words. You can also write to us at bonjour@mamaisonamoi.com, or reach us by WhatsApp at +243 821 193 095.

What happens next is always the same sequence: the listing is hidden immediately, a person reviews the report, our sensors and the visit feedback are consulted. At the end of the review, the listing returns online if the doubt is dispelled, or it is permanently removed if the doubt is confirmed.

Reporting does not expose you: your action remains confidential with respect to the advertiser. We keep you informed of the outcome of your report as soon as the review is closed.
